Windows 10 Installation - Drivers Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 Gaming Keyboard

Let's make this work


Hello, I was struggling to install and make use of all features of this wonderful MadCatz S.T.R.I.K.E 7 (V.E.N.O.M / CYBORG ) on Windows 10 Pro  1942.746  , and spend few hours reading forums and searching information on how to make it work. So I decided, for posterity to make this tutorial and help others is the same situation.  Please  bear with me and pardon my French 😂 .

1. Uninstall

First of all close all tray programs related to MadCatz STRIKE software. Then go to Control Panel , Remove Software and uninstall all Software related to this keyboard.

Then, right click on Windows button  (I say RIGHT one !)  and  select Device Management. From there, navigate to "User input devices" and locate the STRIKE 7 Keyboard.

Uninstalling the present drivers if there are any, and it should, since Windows it has already installed this keyboard.  Don't forget to  check "Delete driver" to have it deleted from registry and .inf folder.

Uninstall other keyboard drivers and helpers from "Programming Support" if there are any there. Sometimes, there is one in "Universal serial Bus" also.

When you are done, restart the PC and come back.

2. Download

If you are not yet downloaded the Drivers and Software, you can do that now.

The Drivers that worked with Windows version 20H2 , Windows 10 Pro 1942.746 when writing this tutorial, on 22 January 2021, were  drivers version 7.0.33.91 from 14/04/2014

Since this is a discontinued product, I doubt that there will be any other versions available, so keep those in your digital stash.

The Software version is 7.0.48.0, as seen in the pictures. Here are the download links, posted here for (hope so) eternity.  If installer don't work on your system for any reason,  I put here the Zip archive of drivers alone, the inf files. Feel free to scan the files, they are clean, as this page.

3. Install

Install now the drivers and then the software.

Start with the Drivers. It will ask you to restart the PC, you must do that,  it is important.  Once the PC is restarted,  the software will continue with the installation automatically. If not, something is wrong.  The Driver install software present you the "Terminate" button. I suggest restarting again the PC, it is not mandatory (since not invited to do so, but.... this is Win-restart-dows, so... )  but I did it upon installation, so I explain exactly what I was doing.  

Now install the software and start the Profile Editor. Everything should work, from Clock and Launcher, to macros and various keyboard shortcut settings.
